Ludwig Leichhardt liked crows. He recorded in his journal that when shot and roasted, the bird was found to be exceedingly tender which they considered to be a great discovery, and they then lost no opportunity of shooting as many as they could.*


*Leichhardt, Ludwig (1847), Journal of an overland expedition in Australia, from Moreton Bay to Port Essington, a distance of upwards of 3000 miles, during the years 1844-1845, T & W Boone, recording 11 Feb, 1845, in what is now Central Queensland (Leichhardt does not specifically identify which corvid he was referring to).
